This week’s episode of The CineFiles includes news on hardware and sequels! Kicking things off are Netflix, who this week officially green-lit a sequel to the much maligned Bright, starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton. The third instalment in the Cloverfield trilogy had its release date pushed back again, and has even dropped it’s title of God Particle. And finally, this Sunday, the 75th Golden Globe Awards take place in Hollywood, and will award actors and filmmakers one of the most prestigious film trophies in the business! Who will win the top prizes of best movie, actor, actress and director?! Time will tell!   1. Get Out got snubbed for Director AND Screenplay, and is not even likely to win Best Actor (Comedy/Musical), so a Best Picture win would be rather surprising. Lady Bird got snubbed for Director, but got a Screenplay nod (which it very well might win), on top of two acting nods (both of which it’s likely to win), so I would think it has the best chance. This is on top of its universal acclaim and an 8.8/10 on Rotten Tomatoes (94 on Metacritic). As for Best Drama, I would think Three Billboards or Shape of Water has the best chance.

  2. Is it bad that I want “Get Out” to lose because it was voted to be a comedy which wasn’t it’s intended purpose. It was intended to show the horrors of deep rooted racism.

  3. I guess pedophila is cool as long as it’s a gay couple in Hollywood ….so sick of hearing about Call Me By Your Name….
