  1. Monroe Jackson Rathbone was born in Singapore to American parents. Thus, he’s been an American since birth. Once the baby’s birth is registered at the embassy overseas, the child will receive an “American Born Abroad” document. This document is proof of American citizenship. On a side note, I was supposed to move to Singapore as a child but never ended up doing so because my dad’s job decided to keep us in the U.S.
