  9. I wouldn’t include the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne on a list of the worst things to happen to Batman. There have been multiple references to how he thinks of himself as Batman and Bruce Wayne is a mask. So, while the deaths of his parents was a horrible thing for Bruce Wayne, Batman didn’t exist at that time, and it didn’t happen to Batman. In fact, it could be the greatest thing to happen to Batman because it began the mental fracture that caused the Batman to be created.
