  1. Some of my fav scores that don’t get enough recognition are The Fifth Element, The Help, Ever After, and Pride and Prejudice. Many people always refer to the music of the latter two films as being an integral part of why they like it, but these scores are not recognized as much as they should be nonetheless.

  2. Why is Prince of Egypt overrated? Everyone had the soundtrack. It won both Oscars and Golden Globes for both best score and best original song “When You Believe.” It won the ASCAP award for music, and that is the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers. It won Critic’s Choice awards all over the country and abroad… FOR IT’S MUSIC. How the heck is it underrated?

  3. This is what happens when people who know nothing about music think they’re music critics.
Most of these scores are trash (Anthony Gonzalez for instance has stated a number of times how ashamed he is of Oblivion).
These scores are all overblown, cheesy, and clichéd, or just flat out bleh.
Want to hear an amazing, underrated score? Try Kingdom of Heaven.

  4. I’m very glad you included Atlantis and Taxi Driver here. Everything about Atlantis is so criminally overlooked it makes me sick. On the other hand, Taxi Driver is one of the most celebrated movies of all time and yet the soundtrack never gets the love it truly deserves. However, I do think foreign movies should get a bit more love from WatchMojo folks – Ludovico Einaudi’s soundtrack for Intouchables as well as Yann Tiersen’s compositions for Amélie and Good Bye, Lenin! are worth a mention. For another american movie, I also really enjoy Clint Mansell’s rereading of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake for Black Swan.
