Number 5 is actually an urban legend. Those use by and sell by dates should be followed. It IS a cheat by companies but it should be followed. The food you buy is stored for a very long time before taken to the stores. Sometimes months. Fresh milk is good for a few months. You see the stuff at the store that’s about to expire.
