  1. For me it has to be Insane mode in the Outlast games. I thought the first one was bad, but wow the 2nd game took me forever. No way to defend yourself and if you die, start over from the beginning.

Fire Emblem Awakening Lunatic + looks at XCOM 2 and laughs because not only do enemy units have buffed stats, they have exclusive to them abilities that activate 100% of the time (abilities that cut physical damage in half or restore half the damage they deal as HP or cut your Defense and Res in half when they attack) Also because the buffs are randomly distributed, sometimes the combination of bonus abilities given makes it so you literally can’t beat the map without sacrificing a unit meaning you have to reset to get beatable maps. Lunatic + is ludicrously hard to beat without spending hours on DLC maps grinding.
